The SISTER Project (www.sister-project.org) will promote the integration of satellite and terrestrial communications with GALILEO to enable mass market take-up of road transport applications.

The scale of the road transport market combined with innovations to road transport problems – requiring the integration of location based services with communications – makes this market potentially extremely attractive.

Objectives of the SISTER Project

  • Establish how satellite communications can be used as part of the operational implementation of integrated terrestrial/satellite (ITS) applications
  • Investigate how satellite affects the operation of current applications (no new applications)
  • Build on and complement the large volume of work already performed in this field through ESA, EU and GJU projects
